Glass Walkway: A Corridor on the Cliff

The glass walkway runs along the outer cliff edge; the transparent floor makes the vertical drop unmistakable. Clear days reveal distant peaks and the city skyline; foggy days feel like walking on a cloud edge. Wear non-slip shoes, follow staff guidance, and keep traffic moving while you photograph. Rain, snow, or strong wind may close sections—check notices before entry.

If heights worry you, use outer viewing platforms for grand mountain shots without stepping onto the glass. Schedule the walkway early after ascent, when energy and light are better, then link it smoothly with Tianmen Cave and the summit loop.

Tianmen Cave & the 99 Bends

Tianmen Cave is the mountain's soul: a huge natural portal set mid-slope, with stairs and viewpoints looking up at rock and sky. Mist often drifts through the mouth—excellent for photos and video. Outside, the 99-bend road doubles back on itself and is a spectacle in its own right.

Most itineraries go “cableway up, road through the cave down,” or the reverse. On shuttle buses through the bends, hold on through sharp turns; private cars usually cannot enter the core route. Visit the cave in better light for richer contrast at the opening.

Cableway Ascent & Summit Pace

Most visitors prefer the cableway: cabins leave the city and the view shifts to endless peaks. Peak-season queues can be long—arrive early or check timed-entry rules. The summit focuses on loop paths, platforms, and the glass walkway, with plenty of slopes and steps; budget walking time.

It is cooler than downtown, especially mornings, evenings, and in mist—pack a light layer. Food points are clustered; bring water before entry. Short on time? Prioritize the glass walkway and Tianmen Cave, then add other viewpoints as energy allows.
