Your guide meets you at the airport or railway station for a private transfer (about 35 km / 1 hour) to your hotel in the Wulingyuan scenic area. No group activities today; meals on your own; free time at leisure.
We suggest strolling Xibu Old Street—Tujia architecture, local souvenirs, and snacks such as frog cakes and Tujia fried rice—to recharge for tomorrow's peak-forest adventure.
Ride the Bailong Elevator up, then hike Yuanjiajie (Avatar filming location / Hallelujah Mountain), visiting Back Garden, Enchanting Terrace, and First Bridge Under Heaven.
Continue to Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve—overlook West Sea Peak Forest from Dianjiangtai, see Imperial Brush Peak, then Helong Park and Tianzi Pavilion for panoramic forest views before returning to the hotel.
About 1.5 hours by road to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Challenge the Cloud Skywalk Glass Bridge (about 375 m long, ~300 m above the valley floor; bungee and other extras at your own cost).
Then visit Baofeng Lake by boat among lake-and-mountain scenery; about 1 hour afterward toward the Zhangjiajie city side, overnight at your Wulingyuan hotel.
Explore Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park: ride the cableway for views of the 99-bend Tongtian Avenue, walk the glass skywalk and Guigu Cliff Walk, optional Tianmen Temple and Yunmeng Summit, then escalators to Tianmen Cave.
After descending, about 2.5 hours by road to Furong Town—a millennium town perched above a waterfall. Enjoy illuminated night views and optional Tujia performances; overnight in Furong Town.
Morning deep dive in Furong Town: Xizhou Bronze Pillar Garden, Tuwang Bridge, Youyang Palace, and Guantaitai overlook for the spectacular Western Hunan waterfall.
Continue by road to Phoenix Ancient Town for an optional Tuojiang boat ride; stroll stone lanes and stilted houses under night lights with Miao culture vibes; overnight in Phoenix Ancient Town.
Morning free explore Phoenix Ancient Town—Shen Congwen Former Residence, East Gate tower, Rainbow Bridge, and other landmarks from Border Town literary fame.
