Your guide meets you at the airport or railway station for a private transfer (about 35 km / 1 hour) to your hotel in the Wulingyuan scenic area. No group activities today; meals on your own; free time at leisure.
We suggest strolling Xibu Old Street—Tujia architecture, local souvenirs, and snacks such as frog cakes and Tujia fried rice—to recharge for tomorrow's peak-forest adventure.
Ride the Bailong Elevator up, then hike Yuanjiajie (Avatar filming location / Hallelujah Mountain), visiting Back Garden, Enchanting Terrace, and First Bridge Under Heaven.
Continue to Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve—overlook West Sea Peak Forest from Dianjiangtai, see Imperial Brush Peak, then Helong Park and Tianzi Pavilion for panoramic forest views before returning to the hotel.
About 1.5 hours by road to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Challenge the Cloud Skywalk Glass Bridge (about 375 m long, ~300 m above the valley floor; bungee and other extras at your own cost).
Then visit Baofeng Lake by boat among lake-and-mountain scenery; return to your Wulingyuan hotel to rest for tomorrow's Tianmen Mountain and Phoenix Ancient Town journey.
Ride the cableway for views of the 99-bend Tongtian Avenue; experience the glass skywalk and Guigu Cliff Walk; optional Tianmen Temple and Yunmeng Summit. Then take the escalators to Tianmen Cave—one of the world's highest natural karst caves piercing a mountain.
After descending, travel about 3.5 hours by road or about 1 hour by high-speed rail to Phoenix Ancient Town. On arrival, enjoy a Tuojiang boat ride and stroll the glowing night streets, sampling local snacks.
In the morning, explore Phoenix Ancient Town in depth—Shen Congwen Former Residence, East Gate Tower, Rainbow Bridge, and more—soaking in Western Hunan heritage.
En route back, stop at Furong Town—the millennium town hanging above a waterfall. Visit Xizhou Bronze Pillar Garden, Tuwang Bridge, and the Waterfall Viewing Platform, then private transfer to Zhangjiajie airport or railway station.
