Welcome to Zhangjiajie. Your driver meets you at the airport or railway station exit and transfers you to the hotel for check-in and rest. Free time afterward—relax at the hotel or stroll nearby.
Transport tip: Fly into Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG), or arrive by high-speed rail via Changsha / Fenghuang. The airport is a short ride from the city; station meet-and-greet with a name sign is available.
Full day in Wulingyuan: visit Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, ride the scenic mini-train through the ink-wash peaks of Ten-mile Gallery, then take the Bailong Elevator up and hike Yuanjiajie to see Avatar's floating Hallelujah Mountain.
Continue by sightseeing bus to Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve. Overlook West Sea Peak Forest from Dianjiangtai, visit Helong Park, and enjoy classic peak-forest sea-of-clouds views.
After breakfast, visit Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and walk the Clouds Bridge glass bridge (about 375 m long, roughly 300 m above the valley floor)—a thrilling stroll above the abyss.
In the afternoon, cruise Baofeng Lake among jade-green peaks and enjoy a peaceful stretch of lake and mountain scenery.
Morning at Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park: ride the cableway up, walk the glass skywalk and Guigu Cliff Walk, visit Tianmen Temple, Yunmeng Fairy Summit, and Tianmen Cave, then descend by cableway.
Continue about 3.5 hours by road or about 1 hour by high-speed rail to Phoenix Ancient Town (smaller groups may use rail both ways). On arrival, enjoy a Tuojiang boat ride and the town's glittering night views.
Morning exploring Phoenix Ancient Town—visit Shen Congwen's former residence, the East Gate tower, Rainbow Bridge, and other landmarks for a feel of Western Hunan culture.
After sightseeing, your driver transfers you back to Zhangjiajie airport or railway station—end of your Explore Western Hunan journey.
